Patrick Street

63A Patrick St, Hobart

JUST TURN UP, NO BOOKINGS REQUIRED!

Architect: Andrew Campbell and Georgina Russell

The Patrick Street project reworks a c.1880 heritage-listed terrace through subtle interventions that reveal its original character while adding amenity. Three strategies guided the design: reconciling rooms and circulation, inserting ‘buildings in miniature,’ and creating functional double moves. A new garden-facing room merges cooking, dining, and terrace living, while playful kitchen and bathroom insertions act as both furniture and architecture. Steel thresholds, patched floorboards, and terrazzo inlays embrace the fabric’s imperfections, uniting old and new with restraint and clarity.
