Art Deco Hobart: Look Up, Look Closer
Look up, slow down and discover a different side of Hobart’s CBD on this guided walking tour celebrating the city’s Art Deco architecture.
Join the Art Deco Society of Australia fand wander through the streets and look closer at the façades, geometric patterns, lettering, materials and decorative details that reveal the optimism and glamour of the interwar years.
You’ll discover Art Deco hiding in plain sight, from streamlined forms and bold geometry to the small details that are easy to miss when you’re rushing through the city.
Along the way, hear the stories behind these buildings and discover how changing ideas about design, technology and modern life left their mark on Hobart.
Come curious, look up and see the familiar streets of the CBD through a new lens. You may never walk through Hobart quite the same way again.
