JUST TURN UP, NO BOOKINGS REQUIRED!
Alexandra Battery exists as one of six batteries built in the 1880s to form the River Derwent Defence Force Network. On a large area of open space, the battery features a large fort complex of tunnels and storerooms. Today, it serves as a public park offering superb views of the timtumili minanya/the River Derwent, north to the Tasman Bridge and city, and south to the South Arm and the estuary opening.
