The Art Deco & Modernism Society of Australia Inc (ADMSA) is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of all aspects of Art Deco and Modernism and it’s time Tasmanians once again took an active part in the preservation and celebration of Tasmania’s Art Deco and Modernist architecture. Join us for an enlightening guest speaker Paddy Dorney and be part of rejuvenating the Tasmanian chapter of ADMSA.
Paddy Dorney The Spirit of Change
Paddy Dorney began his professional life with CSIRO Forest Research and, by way of geophysics and track cutting, found his path to architecture. Once the oldest student in the University of Tasmania’s history and a member of its governing Council, Paddy later taught architecture through what many recall as its halcyon days.
He has written for Architecture Review, Architecture Australia and Houses magazine, and has received numerous awards for architecture—curiously, none for his own work. Paddy practices design quietly and prefers to build what he conceives. A relentless writer, he promises the world some peace once he finishes the book currently occupying his desk. His passions lie in storytelling and space—things which, he argues, may well be the same.
