Forestry Building
79 Melville Street, Hobart

BOOKINGS OPEN AT 12 PM ON FRIDAY, 11 OCTOBER 2024
Architects: Morris-Nunn and Associates (1997); Regeneration by Woods Bagot (2022-2024); Builder: Hansen Yuncken
The Forestry Building is an iconic structure that is set to be transformed into a learning hub for the University of Tasmania. The building has been vacant for many years, and post-restoration, will house the University’s College of Business and Economics and Law School, as well as administrative offices.
Architectural practice Woods Bagot, with builders Hansen Yuncken, is sympathetically regenerating the existing structure, restoring Morris-Nunn and Associates’ original 1997 building and distinctive 22-meter diameter glass dome, as well as reinstating the native urban forest that once stood beneath it. With the addition of new buildings and modern insertions, the design team is activating the historic building and transforming it into a dynamic learning hub for the University of Tasmania.
Join Phoebe Settle, Interiors Lead and Associate at Woods Bagot and Alex Gorton, Construction Project Manager at Hansen Yuncken for a tour of the Forestry Building redevelopment.
