Government House Significant Tree Tour

Join Estate Gardens Manager Tara Edmondson, on this Significant Trees Tour. Learn the history behind the plantings of Hobart’s most established trees, walk through Australia’s oldest oak avenue, planted in the 1840s, and visit the many ceremonial plantings as you wind your way through the magnificent Government House grounds.
The historic Government House grounds cover approximately 15ha. They are home to numerous mature trees which tower over the landscape. The trees provide shelter to the gardens below and stunning colours throughout the year, which are also a haven for birdlife.
Tour: Saturday 11 November 2023, 2 pm
Duration: 1 hour
Accessibility: Some of the paths and areas visited on garden tours are uneven, narrow and include stairs. These are walking tours, guests will cover a large area of the estate, walking for at least an hour. Please contact us directly prior to Monday 23 October should you require disability access.
