Welcome to Little Brick Cottage, a stunning architecturally renovated heritage listed workers’ cottage infused with contemporary design. Lovingly restored from its circa 1857 origins, the two-storey cottage with a private courtyard is located in the heart of South Hobart, with a stunning backdrop of kunanyi / Mt Wellington, and the convenience of Hill Street Grocer next door.
This project exemplifies excellence in design and craftsmanship, counterpointing the restored heritage cottage with a new rear addition on a tight, urban site. The renovation overcame challenges including a dark and damp interior in a poor state of repair, with restricted site access, loading and carpark limitations. The interior detailing is simple, refined, and highly crafted, the light-filled rear addition counterpointing the dark and moody interiors of the existing spaces. This project stands as a testament to careful planning, collaboration, and exceptional craftsmanship by all involved.
Open: Sunday 10 November 2024, 10am – 12:30pm (registration required)
