A New Chapter for Parliament Square
Step inside Lumina, a striking new addition to The Tasman and Parliament Square, and discover how contemporary architecture can sit comfortably alongside some of Hobart’s most significant heritage buildings.
Designed by fjcstudio, Lumina’s expansive, column-free interior is made possible by an innovative mass-engineered timber structure using locally grown Tasmanian Plantation Oak. Look closer and you’ll find bespoke timber detailing throughout, bringing warmth, texture and a strong sense of place to the space.
Join architect Michael Sanday-Ferrier of fjcstudio and a member of the SHAPE team to explore the ideas, design decisions and craftsmanship behind the building.
Discover how locally sourced materials, contemporary construction and considered design have come together to create a distinctly Tasmanian space, one that completes the eastern edge of Parliament Square while creating a thoughtful conversation between old and new.
Come inside, look closer and discover what happens when contemporary design meets Tasmanian materials, craftsmanship and history.
