The Parattah Railway Hotel is a historic Tudor-style building in Parattah, Tasmania, built in 1889. It was a vital stopping point on the main railway line between Hobart and Launceston, serving as the main hotel and refreshment room for travellers. The hotel provided accommodation and amenities for passengers on the express trains, facilitating journeys and improving the town’s growth as a service centre. Today, the building houses the Unexpected Gallery, featuring local art and exhibitions and reminding guests of the town’s prosperous railway history.
