The 200-year-old Roslyn Estate homestead is located in the picturesque Coal River Valley in Tasmania. It is one of the district’s earliest properties, with connections to significant early settlers, George Weston Gunning and George Burn. The stunning heritage-listed Georgian building is made entirely of convict bricks with an imposing tower that stands as a unique feature in Tasmania. The site’s original features can be admired throughout. Back in the day, convicts made and fired bricks on-site, to be used in the building of nearby historic Richmond.
Today Roslyn 1823 is a permaculture vineyard and farm, producing exclusive cool climate wines.
The Open House Experience: Visit the vines to learn about permaculture grape-growing. Step back in time when entering the historic homestead to admire the original cobblestoned stables, kitchen, smoke room, as well as the parlour and music room. Relax and enjoy wine tasting wines in one of Australia’s oldest cellar doors at Roslyn Estate, a charming heritage-listed property dating back to 1823.
Tours: Sunday 10 November 2024, 11am, 1pm & 3pm
Note: While you’re there have a chat to staff on site about the special lunch and sunset dinner options.
