Come along to St Luke’s Church and experience the wonders of Southern Sky A Cappella Ensemble, who will share classic a cappella works including pieces by Ralph Vaughn Williams, Gustav Holst, Dan Forest, Don McLean, and Simon and Garfunkel.
The group formed in May 2022, when several residents of the Coal River Valley started meeting in each other’s homes to sing. The ensemble comprises choristers who have sung in a number of other choirs around Hobart, including the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Chorus. The choir likes to perform a variety of a cappella repertoire and often arranges music to feature soloists from within the group.
Southern Sky’s debut appearance was at the Richmond Hall in April of 2023, where the choir performed to a packed audience. The ensemble currently meets weekly on a Monday at the Lindisfarne Anglican Church.
