Join us as we consider the convict experience at Richmond by looking at the graves of some emancipists and consider the fates of some convicts who died in servitude. There will be other interesting stories thrown in as we move around the historic sections of St John’s Catholic and St Luke’s Anglican Cemeteries.

This tour is guided by two local historians and researchers Michelle Harris and Lee Milne.

Michelle’s extensive knowledge of the locations and occupants of marked (and some unmarked) graves in the historic portions of the cemeteries is the subject of her newly released ebook, Beginning at the End: A Guide to Richmond’s Historic Cemeteries.

Lee has contributed to several publications on historical people and places, and used to conduct walking tours of the historic village of Hamilton in the Derwent Valley and was a founding member and secretary of the Hamilton Historical Society.

Michelle and Lee will share some of the stories from the book and showcase their extensive historical knowledge on this tour.
