Cancelled | TasPorts Tower

Unfortunately, due to changes in operational requirements and the shipping schedule these tours have been cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause and we look forward to the TasPorts Tower tours in the 2024 Open House Hobart program.

Architect: Phillp Lighton, Floyd & Beattie, Engineers: Johnston McGee & Gandy (1987)

Towering over Hunter Street, the Port Tower Building was designed to provide a clear line of sight for all shipping within timtumili minanya/the River Derwent, from Iron Pot in the south to Selfs Point in the north. Opened on 17 September 1987, the home office for TasPorts marine pilots sits 36m above sea level and maintains much of its original 1980s interior.

Join one of the TasPort Tower tours and learn about the day-to-day workings of Port of Hobart, while being spoilt with a cracking 360-degree view of our beautiful city.
