Building Designer: Designful Studio (2021)

A multi functional writing + living studio for our wonderful clients in West Hobart. The brief was to create a detached space for working and studying, guests, extended family, and reflection, a space that opened up to the existing garden that was calm and warm. The design is simple, compact and elegant. The simple structural design and refined palette of materials kept the construction affordable. The building employs passive solar design principles, benefiting energy efficiency. The Writer’s Studio includes a living space with kitchenette, a main sleeping space, a loft, a separate writing studio space, bathroom and an outdoor bath on the deck.

In future this compact studio will be extended to include space for an extra sleeping area – keep your eyes peeled for future OHH events to view the new and improved Writer’s Studio!
